Introduction
Our Special Day
October 23, 2007 was a different day for Olabisi. It was the day she was diagnosed with breast cancer; the beginning of her cancer journey. Just like Olabisi and most people dealing with cancer, going through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, mastectomy and other forms of treatment is typically challenging and could be stressful both mentally and financially.
It is sad to note, that Nigeria has not done enough to fight cancer as evident by lack of adoption of a national strategy that focuses on research, improved awareness and provision of treatment centers. This certainly must be the reason the spread of the ailment is not abating in Nigeria.
World Health Organization (WHO) statistics say 100,000 new cases are diagnosed yearly in Nigeria and it is estimated that 4000 die weekly. In Nigeria, the issues range from under-diagnosis to prognosis, cultural and religious beliefs.
Today, having won the fight over cancer, Olabisi the Founder, WIN Cancer Foundation shows her cancer experience is both a testimony and conviction that together we can WIN Cancer.
At WIN Cancer, we understand that there are different forms of Cancer but our focus is on breast cancer. Registered in the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria, WIN Cancer Foundation was established in April 2018.
